Doctors

Rochelle (she/her) graduated from Notre Dame School of Medicine (Fremantle) and has worked at multiple hospitals across Australia as both a doctor and a physiotherapist including Northern Beaches, Sir Charles Gairdner, Royal Perth Hospital, Prince of Wales and North Shore Private. She is currently working towards her Fellowship in General Practice and has a particular passion for women’s health, paediatrics and preventative medicine. When not at work, she enjoys an active lifestyle on the Northern Beaches and spending time with family and her children. She works at The Cottage on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Esmarie has a diverse medical background with a focus on women’s health (including pregnancy, fertility and sexual health) and paediatrics. Her journey includes working in the challenging environment of ICU and Emergency medicine, and 2 years working in a third-world hospital system gaining invaluable experience and exposure to trauma. Outside of medicine, she has a love of sports and the outdoors. She has completed numerous triathalons and related races, giving her firsthand experience and understanding of sporting injuries. Esmarie’s dedication to her patients and her broad range of experiences makes her a well-rounded and empathic healthcare provider, with a focus on enhancing the wellbeing of her patients. Esmarie is working Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from The Corner clinic.

Rob graduated from The University of Sydney in 2016 and has worked in multiple hospitals in the metropolitan, regional and rural settings. He has previously worked in critical care doing training in Intensive Care medicine as well as in Accident and Emergency. Rob has a special interest in men’s health, chronic disease and preventative care. He also provides iron infusions. Outside of work, Rob enjoys early morning runs, ocean swims, and watching local rugby. Rob works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from The Cottage Surgery.

Dr Karen Oswald has joined The Cottage Surgery. She comes with much experience and has been working in Manly for a number of years. She is interested in healthy ageing, provides aclasta and iron infusions and is experienced in both Aviation and Dive medicals. Dr Oswald is an authorized medicinal cannabis prescriber. Dr Oswald is working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays at The Cottage Surgery.

Medicinal cannabis/plant – based medicine can be useful as part of management for a number of
conditions which may include anxiety/PTSD, sleep issues, and chronic pain management. It is also used
for nausea and pain related to cancer and cancer treatment. Generally, we use oil and oral forms of the
medicine, and aim for the smallest dose which relieves the symptoms. Recreational cannabis uses a high
concentration of THC (terahydrocannabinol), and is often used as a vape for immediate impact.
Dr Oswald uses some less mainstream treatments, such as medicinal cannabis and low dose naltrexone
as part of a personalized approach to management of a number of conditions. This is usually in addition
to usual medical management, and it is important to understand the full picture of the history and
previous treatments.

Angela graduated from the University of New England, and has worked at Westmead Hospital, Cumberland Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She has gained additional qualifications in child health, and has a special interest in women’s health, antenatal care, paediatrics, mental health, iron infusions, venesections and is registered to provide Antenatal Shared Care. She has a young daughter & son, and enjoys spending time with friends and family. In her spare time, she loves cooking and baking. Angela is working Mondays, Wednesday afternoons and Fridays from The Corner Clinic, Wednesday morning from The Cottage.

Benjamin graduated from the University of Queensland. He started general practice in the rural NSW town of Oberon. Prior to this, Ben spent 3 years working at Ipswich Hospital in Queensland as a resident medical officer. He enjoys all areas of general practice, with special interests in paediatrics, mental health, travel medicine, preventative health, venesections and iron infusions. Ben loves rugby in his spare time, travelling and exploring the Northern Beaches with his wife and pet jack russell. Ben works Mondays from The Cottage, Wednesdays and Thursdays from The Corner Clinic.

Gary graduated from Sydney University and has worked over 30 years at The Cottage Surgery.

Catriona graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1995, and completed her general practice training in 2000. Prior to settling on the Northern Beaches, she worked as a GP in Adelaide and the Eastern Suburbs. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, but has a particular interest in women’s and children’s health, and is accredited to provide shared antenatal care. She has three young boys and when not at work, she enjoys an active and energetic family life.

Catriona works Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at The Corner Clinic

Kiril grew up in the UK and graduated with Honours from Sydney University. He has worked as a GP in Manly Vale for over 15 years. He enjoys all aspects of general practice but has particular interest in chronic disease management, type 2 diabetes and adolescent health. He is a supervisor and mentor for GP registrars. On Thursdays he has a medical student working with him. Outside of work, he enjoys bushwalking, the beach and spending time with his family and whippet. Kiril works on Thursdays, Fridays and monthly Saturdays from The Cottage Surgery.
