Before your appointment

Prepare Your Questions and Concerns – Before your visit, we suggest you jot down any questions or concerns you have. This ensures you address everything that’s important to you during your consultation, making the most of your time with your GP.

Organise Your Medication and Supplements – Bring a comprehensive list of all medications and supplements you’re currently taking, including their dosages. This helps your GP understand your medical background and tailor treatments to your specific needs.

Gather Essential Medical Records – Collect relevant medical records, such as recent test results, imaging studies, or hospital discharge summaries. This provides your GP with a complete picture of your health and supports a more accurate diagnosis.

During your appointment

Be Open and Honest – Share your full medical history, including past and current illnesses, surgeries, and hospitalisations. Transparency helps your GP diagnose and treat you effectively.

Discuss Your Lifestyle – Be ready to talk about your daily habits, such as diet, exercise, smoking, and alcohol use. Your GP can offer valuable advice to enhance your health and prevent future problems.

Take Notes – Record key points and instructions during your visit. This helps you remember important advice and follow through with any recommended treatments.

Ask for Clarity – If something isn’t clear, don’t hesitate to ask your GP for further explanation. Understanding your health and treatment options is crucial for effective care.

After your appointment

Schedule Follow-Ups – If you have ongoing health issues or need additional care, make sure to arrange follow-up appointments or contact our practice. Regular check-ins are essential for managing your health.

Embrace Regular Check-Ups – Discuss the importance of ongoing care with your GP. Regular check-ups are key to early detection of potential health issues and improving overall well-being.

Reach Out Anytime – Should you have any concerns or questions after your visit, feel free to contact us. The GPs, nurses and admin staff are always here to support you and ensure your health journey with us is smooth and informed.

We look forward to working with you on your health journey. At the Cottage Surgery, we’re committed to providing you with outstanding care and personalised attention every step of the way.
